Niskayuna
Wendy Duke O’Connor, a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away after a long battle with cancer on March 30, 2022, at age 67.
She was born to James and Barbara Duke in Berkeley Heights, NJ on June 26, 1954. After graduating high school, she earned a degree in Physical Education from Springfield College. She began her teaching career in Scotia, NY. After a 5-year break to start her family, she resumed her teaching career in Niskayuna. She greatly enjoyed teaching and coaching and reinforcing the importance of fitness to countless middle schoolers.
She loved life, and enjoyed hiking, golfing, quilting, photography, and spending time at the Duke family vacation home on Cape Cod. Her goal in retirement was to photograph every lighthouse on the east coast...and she came close. Her many arts and crafts projects will be loving reminders of her wonderful personality to all that received them.
Wendy was a loyal friend, who always put the needs of others before her own.
She is survived by her husband Dennis, her two children Lindsay and Kevin and daughter-in-law Jenna. She is also survived by her sisters Linda Duke, Teri Kidd (Jim), Holly Carbonneau (Jay), many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A visitation and final goodbyes will take place at Cannon Funeral Home at 2020 Central Avenue in Colonie from 3-6pm on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
