Timothy H. Hughes

Colonie – Timothy H. Hughes, 81, of Colonie, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 04, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born in Albany and was the son of the late William and Mildred Hughes. Tim served in the New York State National Guard and the Army Reserves. He enjoyed a forty-two-year career with the Knickerbocker News/Albany Times Union. He started as a copy boy and worked his way up to Circulation Manager, retiring in 1999. Tim later worked for Lowes for another sixteen years. He enjoyed softball, golfing with his family, puzzles, nascar and family gatherings.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Claudia G. Hughes. He is the devoted father of Timothy Hughes (Tina Lopes), Shawn (Lori) Hughes, Kelly (Daniel) Student, Denise (Raymond) Walters and Bernice (Richard) Ruzzo. He is the brother of Jerry (Dorothy) Hughes and the late Janice (Ron) Labouchere and William Hughes (Diane survives). Tim is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tim’s family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memory Gardens.
