Robert G. Stokes

Colonie – Robert G. Stokes, 88, of Colonie, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital as a result on Covid complications.

Bob was born in Poughkeepsie and was the son of the late Bruyn and Lillian Stokes. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Albany (CA123) from 1950 through 1954 as a Quartermaster 2nd Class. After leaving the navy Bob worked as plant manager for Albany International for many years. After his retirement he returned as a consultant for Albany International traveling all over the world to supervise the installation and repair of felt making machines.

Bob enjoyed the most spending time with his family. He loved traveling especially to Hawaii and Las Vegas. When he wasn’t traveling or with his family he was out fishing on his sailboat.

He was predeceased by his wife Eileen in 1989. Bob is the father of Robert (Robin) Stokes Jr., Darrell (Tammy) Stokes and Donna (Carl) Fleshman. He is the stepfather of Onalova (Dave) Haupt and Theresa (Bill) Szala. He is the brother of Joanne (Bernie) Lantiegne and the late Eileen Clark. Bob is the grandfather of Joshua (Kyle), DJ, Janine, Karen (Eric), Brian, Onalova (Kevin), Lenny (Maria), Heidi, Shannon and BJ. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie.
