Donald J. Carmody

ALBANY - Donald J. Carmody, 89, of Albany, passed away on Monday September 12, 2022, after a brief illness.

He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Carmody. Don was a 1950 graduate of Vincentian Institute. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 through 1955 earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Don had a longtime career with the former Bridgeway Lumber where he served in multiple capacities, retiring as Lumberyard Supervisor. Don was a longtime member and Past Commander of the Joseph Fagan American Legion Post. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees.

He was the husband of the late Marilyn Carmody. Don is the devoted father of Donald Carmody Jr. He is the brother of the late Catherine Hourigan, Alice Hill, Thomas, William, Francis, and John Carmody.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Don’s family on Monday from 11am to 12 noon at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Don and Marilyn will be interred together at Saratoga National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
