COLONIE – William Henderer, 86, passed away unexpectedly on January 3rd following a sudden illness, with his loving family by his side. Bill was born in Albany and was 1956 graduate of Albany High School.
To know “Dollar Bill from Arbor Hill” was to love him. He was a charismatic man who was stubborn as a bull but gentle and caring as a lamb. Bill lived life not without hardships, but never went without a smile-except those moments when the infamous lip pout came out. He served in the US Air Force, was a skilled sports player in his youth and most recently found joy in spending time with family or playing cards with his friends. Bill was well known in the local hospitality industry for many years.
Bill’s family is most grateful to Colonie EMS, St. Peter’s Hospital Emergency Room and ICU, especially Meghan and Caroline for the kindness and compassionate care.
Bill is survived his children, Laurie (Steve) Heider, Jordan Henderer and Brandon (Tracy) Henderer. He is the cherished grandfather of Brittany (Colby), Nicholas, Kyle, Emma, Aidan, Breona and his youngest grandson Jackson with whom he shared a very special bond. He is also survived by the Blenis family. Bill will be reunited in eternal life with his late wife Diane Reid Henderer and his daughter, Kiersten Henderer.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bill’s family on Wednesday from 10 am to 12 noon at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. A brief service will commence at 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Albany Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S. Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202. To leave a message of condolence for the family, visit www.CannonFuneral.com
