COLONIE – William P. Ferris, Sr., 87, of Colonie passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 01, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late William M. and Olive Garson Ferris. Bill was a 1951 graduate of Philip Schuyler High School. He played minor league baseball in Vero Beach, FL. for the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. Bill was a printer at Composition Corp for many years and then at Modern Press in Albany before retiring.
Bill coached youth baseball for many years, He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, NY Giants and Chicago Bulls. Bill’s life revolved around his cherished family and friends. His presence can never be replaced but we were blessed to have his endearing love and guidance for so many years.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jane Levitto Ferris; his children, Karen J. (Mark) Sinclair, Kim M. Ferris, William P. (Sharon) Ferris Jr., and Kristi A. (Tim) Merrifield. He is the beloved Fraf of Eric P. and Andrew M. Sinclair, Gina M. DeRue, William P. Ferris III, Scott Ferris and Peter Ferris and Jaclyn DuFresne. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, prior to the service. Masks are required for services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
