Colonie - Wayne F. Sivaslian passed away after a brief illness at the age of 76 on February 24th at home with his devoted wife Monica and loving daughter Nicole and son in-law Adam. Wayne was born on November 21, 1944, in Albany, NY. Wayne is predeceased by his parents Jack & Eleanor Sivaslian, he is survived by his wife Monica, Daughter Nicole Hall (Adam), Uncle Jim Halburian and sister-in law Chris Marsh (Eric Larcom), Melaine Smith (Troy) & brother-in law Bill Marsh, nieces Shelby Smith, Jacqulynn Flauding, nephews, Eric & John Larcom, Great Nephew Grayson as well as many cousins.
Wayne was raised in Albany, attended Allegany College (1962-1963) Hudson Valley College (1970-1972) graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Administration as well as attending SUNY Albany (1972-1974) graduating with a degree in Bachelor of Science. Wayne served in the Army 1965-71 as an Army Security Agent in Thailand from 66-69. Wayne loved Thailand for the Culture, People, Politeness, History, Architecture, music, dancing and food to this day.
Wayne worked At Sterling Winthrop in (1964) and for the Times Union for 33 years and retired in 2002. Wayne met and married his wife Monica in Midland, Texas. Wayne joined First Church in Albany in 1993 and served as a Deacon, Trustee, Choir Member, page turner for the Organist and Financial Secretary where he became close friends with many members of the church. Wayne loved classical Music by Bach and enjoy playing the pipe organ at First Church. NYC was his favorite vacation spot, he loved visiting the historical churches as well as going to the movies, bowling, playing poker and spending time with his family.
The family would like to thank doctors and nurses at Albany Medical Center for their support and care. In addition the family would like to thank Community Hospice, especially nurse Laura Davis.
Services to be held a First Church in Albany, Sunday February 28, viewing 2-4 pm with services to follow at 4:00 pm. Face masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
