LOUDONVILLE – Walter “Butch” H. Edsall, III 68, of Loudonville passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 11, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Ft. Knox, KY and is the beloved son of Marlene Edsall and the late Walter H. Edsall Jr. He grew up on Long Island and has been a resident of Colonie for the past thirty-five years. Walt was a driver with Fedex Ground for over thirty years, retiring in 2017. He was an avid baseball card collector, a New York Yankee fan and was known for his elaborate Christmas decorations. Walt enjoyed Nascar, Disney and attending his grandchildren’s games and events but if you asked him the most important thing of all was spending time with his wife, three girls, three sons-in-law and seven grandchildren.
Walt is survived by his beloved sweetheart and best friend of 47 years, Susan Edsall. He is the cherished father of Kristen (Scott) Hargraves, Lisa (Scott) Endres and Suzanne (Kevin) Breen. He is the brother of Wayne (Bonnie) Edsall. Walt is the devoted Pop-Pop of Bryce, Bryana, Alanna, Cameron, Lucilia, Kendall and Sean. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Walt’s family on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, Latham. Interment will follow at Our lady of Angels Cemetery.
