DELMAR – Thomas E. McCormick, 66, of Delmar, passed away peacefully on Monday May 10, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Norfolk, Virginia and is the son of James and Jeannine McCormick. Tom was a plumbing, heating air conditioning specialist for many years. He had worked for the City of Albany, Lee’s Plumbing & Heating, Reynolds Aluminum, Main Care and then operated his own business, McCormick Home Mechanical. He loved spending time with family, his ’68 Charger, car cruises and shows, boating, and time at the family camp on Lake Champlain. He was always there to help his neighbors and friends. Tom enjoyed gardening, talking to, and meeting new people, socializing and his cherished pets.
Tom is the beloved husband of forty years to Laurie A. McCormick. He is the devoted father of Joseph (Leigh) McCormick and Jamie McCormick. He is the proud grandfather of Corina and Lily. Tom is the brother of Robert (Donna) McCormick, Susan (Jim) McCormick and Carol (Thomas) Cluff. He is the uncle of Kathryn and Rachel McCormick, Trey, Marie and Lauren Cluff, Nicolas, Clay, Robin, Dylan and Julia Makee. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and several loving friends. He will be dearly missed by his dog, Lucy and his cats Milo and Buddy.
Tom’s family is most grateful to all the family and friends who have shown their love and support over the past year. Special thanks to Dr. Makenzi Evangeliste and the staff at NYOH and Community Hospice of Albany.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tom’s family on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a cause close to your heart or Boy Scouts of America Troop 75, c/o 428 Kenwood Ave. Delmar, NY 12054.
