WEST ALBANY – Theresa Ann (Terry, “Toots”) McCoy Stewart born December 25, 1931 left to meet her soul mate Jack on September 11, 2018. Theresa passed at home.
She lived most of her life in West Albany, since the 1940’s. She was the devoted adoring wife of John (Jack) Stewart, deceased 2006. Loving stepmother of Kathleen Ann Jersey (Dennis) of North Greenbush and stepson Kenneth J. Stewart of Rensselaer and cherished granddaughter, Samantha A. Stewart. Theresa was the daughter of the late William and Marie Fagan McCoy. She is predeceased by five siblings, Marie Leach, Margaret Audi, Betty Meisner, William and George McCoy. Theresa is the sister in law of Ruth (Richard) Lyons. Several nieces and nephews also survive including two who became her caregivers in her most difficult time, Richie and Carole Audi and Dawn and Bob Lasher. Many grand nieces and nephews also survive.
Theresa worked for Tobin Meat Packaging plant for 32 years. She made many friendships and longtime forever friends during those years. Many ham stories have been told. She was active in the West Albany Ladies Fire Auxiliary and was recognized as Sister of the Year and a fifty year member. Theresa was active in the Loudonville Arts and Crafts and St. Francis deSales Seniors. She was always quietly giving to the community for many years. Theresa was a member of the Colonie Red Hats, enjoying the multiple restaurants and bus trips to shows and entertainment. She was always there to offer a laugh and enjoy life to the fullest. She will always be remembered by the West Albany community as Theresa “Toots”.
For Theresa the most important meaning in life was family. She loved family get togethers, McCoy family reunions, holidays, special occasions and picnics. Baked ham dinners were her personal favorite, but family can remember a special request meal on their birthday. As her disabilities impeded her, Theresa still loved being with her family and friends. She hardly complained about her challenges which were severe and many. She always remembered birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. Her favorite place was the Peg Leg Inn in Rockport, MA on the east coast. She and Jack enjoyed these trips and they lived for that annual dream vacation. We think that maybe her journey will bring them together again in a similar place.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Theresa’s family on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie.
