Albany - Stanton Montague, 97, entered into eternal rest Friday morning, July 16, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Stanton was born in Albany, NY, the son of the late Frank and Bess Montague. He was a graduate of Albany High class of 1941 and Albany Business College. In WWII he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a field radio operator in the Pacific Theater where he participated in three combat landings. He was also a member of the troops sent to Japan and North China at the end of the war to accept the Japanese surrender.
Monty spent his entire career as bookkeeper and officer of The Woodward Company in Albany. He was a member of several organized bowling and dart leagues and continued to bowl until the age of 92. Stanton enjoyed playing card games with all the generations of his family and with his many friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty Montague, his sister, Nancy Potts, and son-in-law Alexander Smith. Survivors include his devoted children, Sandra Smith, Judith Brunn and her husband Michael, Steven Montague and his wife Barbara; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister in-law Shirley Kron; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Stanton's family on Wednesday, July 21 from 12 to 1 PM at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie. Funeral services to follow at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stanton's memory to Community Hospice Saratoga, The Salvation Army, or a charity of ones' choice.
