Sharon M. Gresen

September 6, 1945 — January 18, 2024

Niskayuna—Sharon Margaret (Mullen) Gresen, 78, entered Eternal Life January 18, 2024 at Cape Coral Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born on September 6, 1945 in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rita (Fagan) Mullen. She was a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School, class of 1963.

Sharon worked as a District Secretary for the New York Telephone Company after graduation until taking on her most important and influential role as a mother.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bruce; her son Jason (Beth) Gresen of Niskayuna, and two daughters Stacy (Robert) Lindros of Chestertown and Jayme (Jason) Nagel of Niskayuna; her grandchildren Kyle, Jenna, Jason, Alicia, and Alexandra; her step grandchildren Kayla and Jarret; her brother Thomas Mullen of Niskayuna, her sister Denise  Evans (late Guy) of Niskayuna, nieces Allison and Ashley and many cousins. She also leaves behind her lifelong friends Connie and Sue and her faithful chair companion, Muddy.

Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She played a great role in our daily lives and was always there when we needed her - even if we called ten times a day. Those who know her children know how much they adored her, and she was worthy of their praise. She would tell her grandchildren how they made Grammy smile, but we believe making people smile is something they inherited from her.

Sharon’s love for her family was also expressed in the Afghans she knitted. She made sure those she loved were kept warm with her creations. She was a fan of word searches, most games on Game Show Network, 78 degrees on the thermostat, half cups of coffee, water view lunch dates with her husband, Wordle when she won, Loon Lake, and winters in Florida.

We are forever grateful to Sharon's dedicated daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Robert, who selflessly served as her full-time caregivers for the past four years. Their unwavering commitment, love, sacrifice, and determination gave us all more time to make so many amazing memories that we otherwise may not have had. She loved telling others about their adventures together, and the trips they would take. She knew how fortunate she was to have them, and to have a son-in-law who loved and treated her as if she was his own mother, and whom she considered her son.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sharon’s family on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:30 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens.
