Sandra M. Karl

COLONIE – Sandra M. Karl, 76, originally of Scotia, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Stephen and Constance Coyne. Sandy was a 1965 graduate of Notre Dame High School and later graduated from nursing school. She had worked as an accountant for Tomra Corp. for many years.

Sandy enjoyed crocheting, crosswords, playing cards, video games, sci-fi movies, reading, audio books and cooking. She was an avid fan of Star Trek and the movie Steel Magnolias. Sandy had a great sense of humor that even her care teams most recently got to enjoy.

Sandy was predeceased by her beloved husband of thirty-five years, David W. Karl. She is the beloved mother of Greg Rifenburg, Steve Rifenburg and Brooke Turallo. Sandy is the sister of Eileen Baird and Brian Coyne. She is the grandmother of Saige Turallo, Sydney Rifenburg, Rylan Rifenburg, Cara Kingsley, Dakota Rifenburg, JJ Turallo, Ty Rifenburg and Darren Kingsley. She is the aunt of Shannon Moore, Devlin, Cory and Travis Coyne, Kehmally Karl and Trevor Karl.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sandy’s family on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 5 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Equinox, (www.equinoxinc.org).
