Ruth A. Beninati

COLONIE – Ruth A. Bonesteel Beninati, 81, died peacefully on March 11, 2018 with James, her husband of 54 years and her children by her side.

She was born July 26, 1936 in Troy and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Kathryn Dewan Bonesteel. Ruth was raised in Troy and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. She had been employed with New York State, Standard Register and the Town of Colonie. Ruth enjoyed gardening and along with her husband, they loved to travel and had visited 22 national parks. A devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Ruth celebrated life and basked in the joy of her loving family, especially her cherished grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James A. Beninati Jr.; her children, Jude (Joe) McQueen of Scotia and James (Amy) Beninati of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren Olivia McQueen, Carly and Nate Beninati; her sister Judyth Hoblock of Latham as well as many nieces and nephews. She is the sister of the late Thomas (Anne) Bonesteel.

Services in celebration of Ruth’s life will be Thursday morning at 10:00 at St. Clare’s Church, Colonie where the Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ruth’s family on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
