Colonie – Robert A. Walsh, 84, of Colonie, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Inn of Community Hospice. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late George and Rosemary Walsh.
Bob was employed for over thirty years with New York State Division of Youth. He was a talented craftsman and avid painter. Bob enjoyed traveling with friends and camping. He was a former member of the Electric City Chorus and barbershop quartet.
Bob was a former member of the Fuller Rd. Fire Dept. He was a life member of the Midway Fire Dept where he served in numerous capacities. Bob was President, Captain, Lieutenant and Treasurer at Midway and chaired several committees. He has been the Midway Fire District Secretary since 1995. He helped start the Oldtimers which honored the men and women who served their community. Bob was honored in January of 1988 by a town of Colonie proclamation as “Robert A. Walsh Day”.
He is survived by his bride of sixty-one years, Patricia Dyer Walsh. Bob is the devoted father of Shawn (Cindy) Walsh, Darlene Preville, JJ Bruso and the late Kelly Walsh. He is the cherished Papa of Patrick, AJ, Zachary, Connor, Jackie and great granddaughter Evie. He will be dearly missed by his loving canine companions, Bella & Murphy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family on Friday September 6 from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Funeral services will be Saturday morning September 7 at 9:00am at Cannon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
