Robert G. Roemer, Jr.

Colonie - Robert G. Roemer, Jr., 69, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Born on Feb 10, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert G. Roemer, Sr. and Victoria (Polak) Roemer.

Robert grew up in Guilderland and was a 1970 graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School. He was a 1972 graduate of Paul Smith’s College with a Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and was employed in the Restaurant Industry for several years.  In 1989, he joined the Daily Gazette in Schenectady where he worked for 25 years.

He was a communicant and usher at St. Pius X Church.

He enjoyed family vacations to Cape Cod and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan of the NY Mets, Islanders and Jets; and enjoyed Poco and 60’s music as well as attending concerts with his wife.

He leaves his loving wife of 47 years Annamarie Roemer; Son Robert J. (Theresa) Roemer; daughters: Becky (Paul) Streicher and Vicki (Shaun) Scanlon; grandchildren: Bobby, Rachel, and Grace Roemer, Jakob and Eli Streicher, and Clara and Connor Scanlon; brothers: Damian (Liz) Roemer and Christopher Roemer; mother in law: Anna Boyle; brother and sister in laws: Joy Roemer, Mildred Hufland and Sharon (Vincent) Budka; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his father, he is pre-deceased by two brothers: Gregory and Richard Roemer; his father in law John Boyle and a brother in law Gustav Hufland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, June 19 at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumite Road, Loudonville. The Rite of Committal will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Friday June 18 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave, Colonie.
