COLONIE – Robert J. Loftus, 67, of Colonie, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at his home. He was born in Endicott, NY and was the son of the late Philomena Loftus.
Bob was a graduate of SUNY Albany. He had a thirty-two-year career with the New York State Department of Health. Following retirement, Bob became a successful, self-employed entrepreneur. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Bob enjoyed gardening and caring for his lawn. He was a local sports enthusiast, always present for his children and grandchildren’s games and events. Bob also worked for over forty years as a local bartender where his joyful disposition was shared with his many friends and patrons. Bob was a charter member of the Slappers Club at O’Toole’s.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of forty-one years, Nancy Loftus and adoring children Nicole Loftus Madigan, Patrick R. Loftus and Andrea L. Loftus. He is the cherished Pops to Liam and Olivia Madigan. Bob is also survived by his uncle Robert Picciano; father-in-law Willard Holman; sister-in-law Susan Holman (Anthony); nieces Claire Paquin (Lindsay Trout) and Julia Holman as well as several cousins and many close friends.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 10:00 am at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob’s family on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
