Robert F. Bauer

Colonie – Robert F. Bauer, passed into eternal life on his 92nd birthday, February 26 at St. Peters Hospital.

Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick, Jr. and Harriet Bauer. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marion Kwiatkowski Bauer. In addition, he was predeceased by his brothers Ronald Bauer and Kenneth Bauer Sr.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, Bob and his wife founded the Robert F. Bauer insurance agency in 1957, which they operated together in Colonie for more than 35 years. For several decades, he was involved in civic affairs in the Colonie area. Bob was a Republican committee leader for a number of years in the 1960’s and was a member of the Colonie Fire Dept and the Colonie Elks. Most importantly, Bob was a devoted grandfather to his eight cherished grandchildren and loving father to his four sons.

Bob was survived by four loving sons, Robert J. Bauer of St. Petersburg, Fl..; Craig S. (Tina) Bauer of St. Petersburg, Fl.; David R. Bauer of Bolton Landing and Michael J. Bauer of Berne,  eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his brother, Frederick W. (Evelyn) Bauer III and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his constant companion, his beloved “Tynee”, a 4lb spoiled teacup poodle.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial for Bob on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Madeline Sophie Church, Guilderland. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
