Colonie - In the early morning hours on June 13, 2021, one week shy of his 75th birthday, our beloved husband and father, Richard A. “Dick” Lostritto passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Beloved and only child of the late Angelo and Eleanor (Serafino) Lostritto, Dick was raised in the South End of Albany and graduated from Philip Schuyler High School in 1964. Dick wed Linda (Garavelli) on August 26, 1967 and shared nearly 54 years of marriage together, raising four children (Richard, Lisa, Joseph, and Peter) in Colonie.
He retired from both the New York State Assembly and the New York State Office of General Services, and spent nearly 47 years working at Roma Foods Importing Co. He was a communicant of the Church of Blessed Sacrament in Albany.
Dick was an amazing person with a gentle soul. He made people laugh and feel important no matter who they were, where they came from, or what they did. He was often described by many as “the nicest guy they had ever met.” Wherever he resided or worked, he was often referred to as the “Mayor,” as it seemed he knew everyone. His absence in this world will be felt by so many.
He enjoyed watching sports, movies, making people laugh, and spending time with friends and family. His favorite pastime was playing cards, but meeting friends at Dunkin Donuts for coffee was a close second.
Richard leaves behind to mourn, his loving wife, Linda; sons, Richard Lostritto of Colonie, Joseph (Linda) Lostritto of Schodack, and Peter Lostritto of Saratoga; daughter, Lisa Lostritto of Colonie; two loving grandchildren, Joseph and Sophia Lostritto of Schodack; and many cousins and friends.
