Richard F. Bogdan

Colonie – Richard F. Bogdan, 90, of Colonie, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, April 12, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Frederick and Stella Bogdan. Richard was predeceased by his wives, Rita Zabinski Bogdan and Doreen Baker Bogdan; and his sister Violet Mendrysa.

Richard was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy where he excelled in marksmanship. He served in the Naval Reserves. Richard was a draftsman at General Electric Company in Schenectady for over thirty-five years. He enjoyed playing pool with his buddies, camping, fishing, bowling, golf, and square dancing. Richard was a member of the Colonie Village Seniors and had coached girls’ softball.

He is survived by his four daughters: Linda (James) Viola, Christine (Donald) Martin, Nancy (Robert) Sanford and Jeanette (John) Nealon. Richard is the stepfather of Michael Higgins, Debbie Shaw and Daryl Higgins  and their families. He is the grandfather of Jennifer Viola, Jamie Obst, Stephanie Rossi, Sarah Werner and Melissa Nealon. He is the great grandfather of Conor Rossi. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday morning at 9:00 am at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Richard’s family on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Face masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.
