COLONIE – Ralph F. Deso, 75, of Colonie, passed away on Wednesday August 17, 2022 after a long illness. He passed at home surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born in Albany and was the son of Frank (Lynn) Deso and the late Angeline Dando Deso. Ralph was the beloved husband of fifty-five years to Barbara Maybury Deso, and the devoted father of Christopher (Denise) Deso, Corey (Jennifer) Deso and Nicholas (Carolyn) Deso. He is the cherished Pop of Kalyn, Joseph (Jennifer), Christina, Gianna, Natalie and Roman and was looking forward to his first great-grandchild Enzo Deso due in September. He was the brother of Marie Deso and the late Richard Deso. Ralph will be dearly missed by his canine companion, Zuzu Petals.
Ralph served in the US Navy Reserves during Vietnam and later with the Army National Guard at Ground Zero during the attacks on 9/11. He was a proud Patriot. Ralph was an independent insurance agency owner for thirty-three years. and an accomplished author of two fictional books. Ralph was the Past Commander of the North Albany American Legion, and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. One of Ralph’s fondest memories was being a member of the Friday Nights Men Bowling League at Redwood Bowling Alley in Colonie for over 30 years. Ralph was a die-hard Yankee fan, and coached youth baseball with his sons. He was also a baseball umpire for many years. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the medical staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for their care and compassion they showed for Ralph.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ralph’s family on Wednesday August 24 from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on the morning of Thursday August 25 at 10:30 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. Interment will follow at Saratoga National VA cemetery.
