Peter "Pete" Mcallister

Colonie - Peter P. “Pete” McAllister, Sr., 74, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 following a courageous, but short battle with cancer.

Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of Matthew and Rita (Brown) McAllister.

Pete was a 1964 graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School.  He then attended Hudson Valley Community College, prior to serving in the US Army from 1968-1972.

On October 15, 1967, he married Michelle “Micki” Cordell.

Returning from service, he joined Albany Local #7 Pipefitter and Plumbers Union, retiring in 2005.

Baseball was a family tradition and passion.  The McAllister family was an avid supporter of local baseball teams including the Albany-Colonie Yankees and the Albany Diamond Dogs.  Over the years, they hosted many players and events for the teams.

Pete also enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his parents, a brother William McAllister pre-deceased him.

He leaves his loving wife of 53 years Micki McAllister; sons: Peter “PJ” (Kim) of Colonie and Sean McAllister of Cambridge, NY; a daughter Erin (Stephen) Johansen of Malta; grandchildren: Alicia, Deziree, Ryan, Charlotte, and Lillianna; brothers: Michael (Elaine), Mark (Debra), and Timothy (Marion) McAllister; a sister in law Diane McAllister, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 14 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm followed by  a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie.
