COLONIE – Paul Peter Ruede Jr., 93, formerly of Sun City, Bluffton, SC and Colonie, was currently a resident at Kingsway Manor Schenectady NY. Paul passed away on Tuesday January 05, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital from complications of Covid. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Paul Sr. and Katherine Ruede
Paul served in the US Navy during WWII. He attended CBA and Siena College. He worked for New York State in accounting and administration for forty years. Paul also was employed at Macy’s in Colonie part time in the vault in the years when Colonie Center first opened.
Paul enjoyed being with his family and especially the many years he spent at their camp at Choke Cherry on the Great Sacandaga Lake and with their many friends they made there while boating and the beach. Paul loved his newspaper reading it for what seemed like hours and his iPad which he kept in touch with family, friends and the outside world.
Paul enjoyed his Tuesday night bowling and playing Hand & Foot with Teri, Al, Tony & Pat in years past.
Paul and Arlene moved to Sun City in Bluffton SC to escape to warmer weather and enjoyed it until health reasons caused them to head back home for assisted living.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Arlene Belski Ruede and his cherished daughter, Linda Ann Ruede. Paul was also predeceased by his first wife the late Mary Ray, mother of Paul III.
Paul is the devoted father of Paul P. (Doreen) Ruede III, Michael (Cheryl) Ruede, Keith (Linda) Ruede, Brian (Lori) Ruede and David Ruede (Jeremy Dodd). He is the cherished grandfather of Courtney, Casey, Michael (Ashley), Chelsea, Hannah, Nicholas, Eileen and Luke. Great grandfather of Amber, Derek, Jania, Mya and Hailey. He is the brother of the late Vincent Ruede. Many nieces & nephews also survive.
The Ruede family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Kingsway Manor, St. Peter’s COVID Unit for their kind and compassionate care; Fr. John Provost & Fr. John Tallman for the spiritual support they provided Paul.
Funeral services will be private due to COVID.
Interment will be Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Latham. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 50 1 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
