COLONIE - Patricia Anne Moffitt, 84, died at her residence on Saturday October 6, 2018. She was born March 17, 1934, the only surviving child of Robert and Cecile Potts Moffitt. She grew up in New Rochelle, NJ ardently playing baseball with the local boys and joyfully riding White Wind, her bicycle around town to visit girlfriends.
Pat graduated from Caldwell College, New Jersey, then spent several years as a Sister of the Holy Names in Albany, NY teaching at the Academy of the Holy Names. She did graduate studies at the College of Holy Names, Siena College, the College of St. Rose and Notre Dame. Pat was a highly regarded English teacher at Niskayuna High School from 1971 until her retirement in 1995. She then returned to Holy Names, where she volunteered part time until 2010.
Pat was very outgoing and active, making many good friends over the years. She loved traveling to interesting places and was an avid and knowledgeable fan of the Yankees, the New York Giants and Notre Dame football team. A faithful member of St. Clare’s Church, she served as Eucharistic minister for the parish and for two hospitals. Pat was also an active Associate of the Sisters of the Holy Names, lovingly fulfilled her life as a Lay Consecrated woman in service to others and was noted for her generosity to others and to worthy causes.
She is survived by her cousin, Jane and her husband John Stewart of Talent, OR; and her dear friends, Sr, Pat Mills SNJM, Sr. Maureen Murphy CSJ and Mel Witkowski.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 11:00 am at the St. Joseph Chapel at Sister of the Holy Names, 1061 New Scotland Rd., Albany. Visitation will precede the Mass from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Holy Names Chapel. The Rite of Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
