Nora P. Giannetto

November 26, 1949 — August 1, 2019

Nora Peach Giannetto passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 69 on Thursday morning, August 1st, 2019 after her long battle against lung cancer.  She was surrounded by her husband, daughters and son-in-law.

Nora was preceded in death by her father Nelson Peach, brother Robi Peach and nephew Sean Dimmery. She is survived by her husband, Gary Giannetto, daughters, Tracy Tyler (Jeff) and Danielle Benner (Brian), grandchildren, Hunter and Georgia Benner, mother, Bonnie Peach, sister, Rebecca Dimmery, brother Preston Peach, brother-in-law Ronald Giannetto, sister-in-law Rosalie Giannetto, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.  Nora was a loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She spent her life making sure these people were happy and cared for.

Nora was originally from Columbia, South Carolina and moved to Rochester, New York, where she spent most of her life.  She dedicated 35 years of her career to the Marriott Airport Hotel which was like a second home to her.  Here she met lifelong friends and celebrated many milestones.  Recently Nora moved to Albany to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.  This was a blessing for all of her family to be together for the last year.  Everything about her will be missed... many would say they will miss her humor and her homemade sauce and meatballs.  She had a profound love for gardening, nature - especially birds, reading, music, and her family.   She was like a second mother to many and had a special way of making everyone feel like family.  Her nieces, nephews and daughter’s friends spent a lot of time in the warm and welcoming home that she created.   This nurturing spirit was felt by everyone and will never be replaced.

A memorial service will be held at Elmgrove United Methodist Church, 1500 Spencerport Rd, Rochester, NY 14606 on Saturday, August 17th at 10:30 am. The family will hold a private reception following the service.

A special thank you to The Community Hospice workers that helped Nora and her family through this difficult journey.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd, Albany, NY 12205.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, visit www.CannonFuneraL.com
