NORTH GREENBUSH – Nicholas F. Mantello, 90, formerly of Troy, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Troy and was the son of the late Dominick and Isabel Mantello. Nick served with the US Navy Seabees during WWII. He was a carpenter with Local 190 in Troy for many years. Along with his wife Victoria, they were the longtime caretakers of the Italian Community Center in Troy. Nick was the last of the original members of the CRAB Club in Troy. He enjoyed deep sea fishing, making canes and walking sticks and spending time with his cherished family.
Nick was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Matera, James, Joseph and Dominick Mantello and his son-in-law, Ricky Vielkind. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Victoria F. Marro; his devoted daughters, Donna (David) McClure, Linda (Monty) Montague and Victoria Vielkind (Brett Baker). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:30 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wynantskill. Family and friends are invited to visit with Nick’s family on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Brookside Ave., Wynantskill. Interment with military honors will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org in memory of Nicholas F. Mantello.
