Myrna M. Murphy, 95, a longtime resident of Broderick Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at the Glendale Home in Scotia.

Born on December 27, 1927 in Newburgh, NY, she was the 7th of 14 children of Arthur and Julia (Hudig) McCurry.

Myrna grew up in Newburgh and was educated in St. Patrick’s School in Newburgh. After the sudden passing of her first husband James Bowie (1961); she married John J. Murphy and moved to Colonie. He passed in 1984.

She retired as a banquet waitress from the Crossgates Restaurant and Banquet House where she worked well into her 80’s.

Her past times included reading, folk art painting, baking, cooking, browsing antique stores, and shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop.

Besides her husbands, a son Ronald Bowie (2009) pre-deceased her.

She leaves her loving family including a daughter Bonnie Rutnik of Voorhesville, a son James Bowie of Edinburg, NY; grandchildren:  Erin Lewis, Veronica Bowie, Ronald Bowie, James Bowie III as well as several other grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, a sister Yvonne Forsyth of Montgomery, NY and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Monday, July 31, 2023 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie.

The family would like to thank Vicky, Jessica, and staff too many to mention for their care while at  Glendale Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting you donate to either Disabled American Veterans or Boystown.
