Sister Mildred L. McGill Reddix was born on July 12, 1941, to the late Carrie Woodard and Johnny Lee McGill in Shubuta, Mississippi, of the Altair Community.
Mildred departed this life on May 18, 2024, at 4:20 am, peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Mildred was married to the late Joseph L Reddix. She was a devoted member of the Greater St. John COGIC, where she served as an usher. Mildred worked as a nursing assistant for many years at the St. Peters Hospital and The Whitney M Young Health Center where she retired from.
Mildred was known for her endless care and generosity. She dedicated herself as a caregiver for many members of her family. Her love for church and praising the Lord was evident throughout her life, having accepted Christ at an early age and remaining faithful until her health declined.
Mildred was blessed with six children, one of whom preceded her in death, Linda G Reddix, and stepson Joseph Leon Reddix. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi (Mack) Thomas and Bettye G Johnson.
Mildred leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Spencer of Shubuta, MS, Earnestine (Steve) Landy, Christine Reddix all of Albany, NY, stepdaughter Evearn Reddix-Broughton of Gautier, MS, and her special daughter caregiver (Cynthia Reddix) of Selkirk NY. Her sons Jasper (Frances) Reddix of Albany NY, and Tommy Reddix of Ravena NY. She is also survived by her brothers Johnny L McGill Jr. of Shubuta, MS, Lowell (Florence) McGill of Albany, NY, and Willie (Rilanda)McGill of Jackson, MS, along with brother-in-law Theodore Johnson of GA.
Mildred will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Tyson, Lakeya, Terrance, Hope, Terasita, Diaz, Timothy, Nicole, Matthew, Latasha, and Kavon. She is also survived by Ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, friends, and extended family.
Though she may no longer be with us, Mildred's love and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. We love you and miss you dearly.
