April 27, 1955 — June 24, 2022

Mary C. Courter, 67, of St. David’s Lane, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at her home.

Born and raised in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith Smith.

On June 13, 1989, she married Brian E. Courter and together they enjoyed 34 years of marriage. Mary was a devoted wife for many years and was looking forward to many more.

Mary was employed for 15 years as a clerical assistant with the NY State Retirement & Disabilities Office until the onset of her Kidney Disease forced her to retire.

She was a sponsor for EWTN, Right to Life, and the ASPCA-North Shore Animal League.

She served as Vice President of the Local Chapter of the World Apostle of Fatima. In 2010, she made a pilgrimage to Portugal and visited Fatima and the Pope.

Family was most important to Mary, they all brought her so much joy. She loved to play dress up and having tea parties with her granddaughters.  She also loved being mother to her fur babies Gizmo, Tidbit, Kitty Kelly, and Jack Daniels.  She cherished her role of wife to Brian, mother to John and loved mothering Krista. She enjoyed going to Mass and talking to her best friend Jesus.

Mary is survived by her husband (Brian), a Son (John) and his wife Krista, granddaughters Taylor and Mikayla; a brother Robert (Holly)Smith, Jr.; a sister Theresa Daniels, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 28 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 29 at Christ The King Church, 20 Sumpter Avenue, Guilderland. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Colonie.
