Latham- Marilyn Louise Yanulavich Alexander, 72, of Latham formerly of Saranac, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at her residence.
She was born in Plattsburgh on April 23rd, 1952 and was the daughter of the late Alex and Nora Yanulavich. Marilyn grew up in Lyon Mountain, a place that she was very fond of and where she formed many lifelong bonds. She was an avid softball player, a devout Catholic and very proud of her Lithuanian heritage. Marilyn Graduated from Lyon Mt. High School in 1970.
After Graduating from Empire State College she started her career at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. as a Medical Lab Technologist, later specializing in Blood Bank before becoming a Senior Systems Analyst supporting many applications used throughout the hospital. She retired in 2014 after 38 years of dedication. Marilyn brought joy and smiles to many patients and coworkers.
Marilyn loved spending time at Chazy and Chateaugay Lake and was often found on her jet ski. She was a passionate cook taking great care to feed her family and loved ones with pride. If ‘Nana’ was coming to visit there was certainly some delicious home baked goods to look forward to.
Marilyn spent her last days making friends at the Ávila Retirement Community and was particularly fond of the regular Scrabble and Fictionary Events. Her family expresses immense appreciation for the welcoming spirit of the Ávila community and the loving support of all those that helped guide through the journey of her life.
Marilyn is the wife of the late Harold James Alexander. She is the devoted mother of Heather (Jeremy) Maxwell and loving Nana to Will and Heidi. Marilyn is the sister of Cindy (Paul) Cyzewski, Bryan (Teresa) Yanulavich, Phyllis Williams (late Jack), Frank Yanulavich and the late Alex M. Yanulavich. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 1:00 at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd. Loudonville, NY. Visitation will be Friday from 12 to 1 pm at the Church, prior to Mass. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard’s Church of Lyon Mountain, 5526 State Rt. 11, Ellenburg Center, N.Y. 12934.
