Marie H. Albrecht

Smithtown, N.Y.

Marie H. Albrecht, 87, passed away after a brief illness on August 18, 2021.

Born in Hempstead, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Herman and Marie Guthy. Marie moved to the Capital District at an early age and remained here until recently moving back to Long Island.

Marie taught private violin lessons in the area for over 35 years and was a member of various associations to improve her skills. She enjoyed playing in string quartets and attending concerts with friends. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.

Marie was the wife of the late Joseph C Albrecht. She is the devoted mother of Theresa DiGeronimo, Patricia Albrecht-Licciardi and the late William J. Albrecht. She is the loving mother-in-law of Sandra Albrecht. Marie is the cherished grandmother of Alexandria, Laine (Robert) Melissa (Jon) Michelle (Julia) A.J., Rebecca and Nicholas (Jon). Also surviving are her beloved great-grandchildren, Justin, Victoria, Naomi, Eli, Hannah and Natalie. She was the sister of John (Helga) Guthy.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 24 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie.  Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Monday, Aug 23 at the funeral home.

Marie’s passion was providing musical instruments and music lessons to underprivileged youth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
