Maria Teresa Sainato

ALBANY - Maria Teresa Sainato was called into eternal life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.  Born October 8, 1937 to Mariana and Francesco Sainato in Gioiosa Ionica, Italy.

Teresa, as she was affectionately known to those who loved her, was the oldest of seven children.  Teresa loved to knit and garden and cultivated the most beautiful flowers.  She was known to share her bountiful fruits and vegetables with her loved ones. Teresa, together with her parents and four siblings, immigrated to Albany in 1966-1967. As a young woman Teresa was employed at the Fuller Brush Company, and New York State Office of General Services where she retired after over 20 years of service. Teresa was known for her generous spirit and her devout faith. She was a communicant of Saint Vincent de Paul Church in Albany since arriving in the community.

Teresa is survived by her siblings Luigi (Catherine) Sainato, Rosa (Scott) Veltman, Maria (Antonio) Pasqualino, Carmela Ritorto, and Caterina  Agostino of Italy, and sister in-law Lisa Sainato. She is predeceased by her parents and brother Nicola Sainato. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews great nieces and great nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 am at St. Vincent DePaul Church, Albany. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Teresa’s family on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Church, 900 Madison Ave., Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Maria Teresa Sainato.
