Marianne F. Monroe

Schenectady - Marianne F. Monroe, 88, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady.

Marianne was born and raised in Brant Lake, NY and was the daughter of Elton and Elaine (Persons) Ross.

She was a 1956 graduate of the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in Schenectady.  She then began her nursing career, working at the Rome State Hospital and then came back to Schenectady and worked Private Duty Nursing prior to joining St. Clare’s Hospital where she worked many years.  In later years, she worked for the Capital District Hospice.

She was a longtime member of the Carmen Road Alliance Church where she served in many ministries and was a deaconess.  She enjoyed trips to Cape Cod and Maine with her family.

She was the beloved wife of 63 years to James A. Monroe, Sr., who passed on Jan 23, 2020; devoted mother of James Monroe, Jr., Hope Monroe, Timothy Monroe and the late Stephen and Kathleen Monroe; mother-in-law of Yvonne Monroe; grandmother of Michelle, Nicole, Daniel, Tim, Jennifer, Stephen, Phillip, Sarah, Tiffany, and Brandon; as well as many great-grandchildren. She was the sister of late Robert and Wendall Ross.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, December 14 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie. Calling hours will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm Wednesday prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, December 15 at the family plot at Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady.
