Margie Machaffie

Colonie – Margie MacHaffie, 91, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 7, 2018 at the Schenectady Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late John and Mildred Decker Thomson. Margie was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 51 years, John F. MacHaffie Sr. in 1999. She grew up in the south end of Albany and attended the Cathedral Academy. Her number one goal was to take care of her husband and children. Margie worked part-time at Korvettes and Kmart.

Margie resided at the Schenectady Center for the last six years where she received exceptional care and love from all who took care of her. It was evident in the last few days of her life as one by one they came to say goodbye to her. She was truly spoiled from her first day there. It made it easier for us knowing that she was well cared for. We will never be able to praise the staff enough. God truly blessed us with you.

Margie is the beloved mother of Carol (Bill) Endres Ng, John “Jack” F. (Linda) MacHaffie Jr. and Kathy (Guy) Jubert. She is the sister of Marion Reilly. Margie is the cherished grandmother of Bob (Jackie) Endres, Carrie (Victor) Kranz, Amy (John) Gravelli, Lori (Scott) Barrett, Guy (Stacy) Jubert, Lisa (Brian) Corey and Elizabeth (Ken) Blodgett. She is also survived 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 9:00 am at St. Clare’s Church in Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Margie’s family on Friday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady Center, Patient Activity Fund, 526 Altamont Ave., Schenectady, NY 12306 in memory of Margie MacHaffie.
