Margaret R. Koerner

January 29, 1939 — December 13, 2018

Clifton Park - Margaret R. Koerner, 79, of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her loving children.

Born January, 29th 1939 in Albany, NY, Margaret was the daughter of Rhodric S. Ring and Mabel D. Ring.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Ann Koerner, two brothers, Rhodric L. and John Ring, stepmother, Mildred Ring, and a nephew and great niece.

Margaret graduated from Ravena Coeymans High School in 1956 and went on to earn a degree in Sales & Marketing.  Margaret’s career path was much like a patchwork quilt, many small pieces coming together to from the unique person that she was.  One of Margaret’s earliest jobs after high school was drafting for the original “Ma Bell” telephone company.  While raising her children, Margaret decided to take on a small job.  Tupperware!  The seed was planted.  Several years later when the children were grown the sale and marketing bug bit again.  Not a woman to sit behind a desk for 25 years, Margaret embarked on her journey as a sales representative for several different companies including Gourmet Spices, sunglasses and accessories from Visual Scene, Maps by Jimapco, designer Mailboxes and Wrangler products.  Margaret was happy to be able to travel for work, be her own boss and form many lasting friendships with people she met along the way.  Margaret also tried her hand in the restaurant industry as a supervisor with Friendly’s.  She ended her successful work history with an outside contractor re-setting and merchandising grocery store inventory.

No surprise, Margaret’s interests and hobbies were diverse as well.  She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, scrapbooking, reading, travel, shopping, and collectables.  One particular passion of Margaret’s was gardening.  She had beautiful flower gardens and bountiful veggie patches.  Her green thumb was inherited from her dad.  Margaret had an impressive collection of all things “chickens & roosters” as well as a whimsical yard and garden dotted with gargoyles.  Margaret was an animal lover, having numerous dogs, cats, and even a rooster and a horse.

Survivors include her son, Eric Koerner, daughter, Tracy (Matthew) Murphy, sisters Elaine Koreman and Judith McKenna, grandsons Kyle (Kylie) Murphy and Kevin (Nicki) Koerner, great granddaughter Luna Murphy, dear friend since childhood Elaine, several nieces and nephews and her extended South Carolina family.  She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Barbie and Kitty.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to newfound friends, K, Tom & Corrinne, Margaret’s caregivers for their unwavering assistance, dedication, and genuine love.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Margaret’s family at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:30 with a prayer service to follow at 4:30 pm.  Interment will be in Springbrook Cemetery, Mansfield, MA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, visit www.CannonFuneral.com
