Lorraine C. Scheuer

NISKAYUNA – Lorraine C. Scheuer, 87, of Niskayuna, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2023. She was born in Boston, MA and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence Miller.

Lorraine married the love of her life, Donald, on October 22, 1955.  In addition to raising her 3 children, she assisted Donald in running a successful business, Standish & Scheuer Opticians, in Schenectady for 30 years before his retirement. Lorraine was an active member of the Northside Business Association for over 20 years.  Lorraine, along with Don, enjoyed traveling with friends on trips to Aruba, Texas, Nashville, South Carolina, and many trips to Wells, Maine.  Lorraine also traveled to Nova Scotia, Canada to visit her large extended Canadian family.

Lorraine took avid pride in her home and yard and hosted family holidays and gatherings for friends frequently.  She could often be found involved in a home improvement project, including refinishing her kitchen cabinets at age 82! Lorraine remained in her beloved Niskayuna home for 41 years with the assistance of her grandchildren (and occasional roommates) after the passing of her husband in 2014.  She loved to crochet, to cook for her family, and enjoy the end of the day relaxing on her backyard deck.

After 8 years apart, Lorraine and Donald are together again in heaven keeping a loving eye on their beautiful family.

Lorraine is survived by two daughters, Donna M. Hart and Lisa S. Neyman (Kenneth); and a son, Donald V. Scheuer, Jr. (Kim). She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sara A. Neyman, Eric J. Neyman, Brian D. Hart, and Kevin J. Hart.  They loved their Gram deeply and she will be missed.  Lorraine is also survived by her Scheuer nieces and nephews and her loving goddaughter, Debbie Yakobi and two nephews, Bill and John Engel.
