Colonie – Lloyd C. McOmber, 87, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Cohoes and was the son of the late Lloyd B. and Mary Kerls McOmber and Stepson of Loretta V. Farley McOmber. Lloyd is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 66 years, Barbara Semenick McOmber. He is the devoted father of David (Jeanne) McOmber, Karen (John) Chapman, Kurt (Shannon) McOmber and the late Debbie McOmber. He is the cherished Grandpa of Steven (Sarah), Jessica, and Nicole (Michael) McOmber, Danielle (James) Nichols, Devon (Kit) Chapman and Melanie (Noah) Cominsky. He is the great grandfather of Lucas, Jack, Ava, Tanner, Cameron, Hunter, CJ, Jake, Leona and Gabriel and great great grandfather of Chase.
As a graduate of Cohoes High School and Mohawk Valley Community College, Lloyd was a talented graphic artist. He worked for and eventually bought Cummings Advertising Art in Colonie. He loved the outdoors, watching the birds and tending to his self-made koi pond. Lloyd enjoyed traveling, photography, and watching his children and grandchildren’s baseball, softball and soccer games. Lloyd was forced to be a Yankees fan by his wife. He was very active in St. Clare’s Church where he served on the Parish Council, and as an alter server, Eucharistic minister and member of the hospitality committee. He was a coach at Colonie Little League and an assistant scout master with Boy Scout Troop 45.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lloyd’s family on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 at St. Clare’s Church, Colonie. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens.
