Laura J. Jurgensen

COLONIE – Laura Jean “Lolly” Jurgensen, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 11, 2021. She was born at home at 1709 Central Ave., Colonie, N.Y. and lived her entire life in the Capital Region.

Laura was the daughter of the late William and Laura Nielsen, is predeceased by her husband Carl, her daughter Stephanie and her son Niels.  Laura is survived by her daughters, Laura Lee Nielsen and Kristina Quenelle, grandchildren Seth and Jesse Wilberding, Tara Rutland, Laura Golon and Erik Jurgensen, and great-grandchildren, Isabella, Zander and Ethan.

She was a positive, compassionate woman, with a quick infectious laugh, attentive to her family's activities, ready to listen to a friend in need, and loved to host family and friends at both her home and at "Camp".  In her early years before she was married, Lolly and a handful of close friends, started a sorority. They were socially active in a variety of venues and maintained a lifetime of friendships. Lolly was an avid knitter, making numerous, beautiful works of art for family members and friends. Lolly always had a “green thumb” and she loved to work in her large flower gardens surrounding her house. She enjoyed reading - Nicholas Sparks being her all-time favorite - playing cards, and watching the birds outside her kitchen window. She loved taking road trips with her husband and dog and they regularly traveled up and down the east coast. She loved donating her time and efforts to the Pine Grove Methodist Church. She was active with the Annual Pine Grove Methodist Church Bazaars, the church Prayer Shawl Group, as well as the church dinners.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 6:00 pm  at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lolly’s family on Thursday from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, prior to the service. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
