SCHENECTADY – Kevin W. Greene, Sr., 71, of Schenectady, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at his residence.
Born in Albany, Kevin was the son of the late Daniel and Emma Long Greene and the younger brother to the late Donald F. Greene.
Growing up, he attended Philip J. Schuyler Achievement Academy and spent time working in his father’s print shop; a hobby that turned into a job for 36 years during his time with Boyd Printing. After the closing of Boyd, Kevin took on the next journey of his career as a driver for DNT Express, where he had the joy of talking with and caring for his customers and their mutual appreciation for wine until his retirement in 2016.
Throughout “Dirk’s” life, he enjoyed all sports and anything with a motor; motorcycles, classic cars, boats, and power tools. One of Kevin’s most loved places to spend his time was at his camp on Burden Lake, where many can share their fondest memories with him. In retirement, he spent his time traveling with his late partner, Diane Hovey, on trips up to Nantucket. Most recently, he could be found cooking and tending to his plants, all while a soundtrack of classic rock was playing in the background. Kevin had an avid love for Vino - both the red wine and his feline best friend.
Big Kev loved his title of Dad more than anything. He never missed the opportunity to share how proud he was of his kids and could always be found cheering them on whether it was for sports, school, or work. He also cherished his newest title of Grandpa, given to him by his sweet little monkey, Avery.
Kevin is survived by his granddaughter, Avery and children, Danielle (Spencer) Kuhn, Kevin W. Greene Jr., and their mother Colleen Greene.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Kevin’s family on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. To leave a message of condolence for the family, visit www.CannonFuneral.com
