Josephine P. Zimmerman

COLONIE – Josephine P. Zimmerman, 87, of Colonie, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Theresa Monaco. Josephine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard H. Zimmerman Jr. in 1979. She is survived by her children; Donna Zimmerman, Keith Zimmerman, Noelle (Bob) Hamel, Jeffrey (Terri) Zimmerman and Leonard H. “Chip” (Tammi) Zimmerman. She is the cherished grandmother of Stephanie Zimmerman, Connor, Audrey and Jessica Hamel. Great grandmother of Saryiah, Rize’ and Elijah. She is the sister of Frank Monaco, Irene D’Attillio and the late Anthony and Joseph Monaco.

After raising her children, Josephine worked at Northern Industrial and NYS Tax & Finance for several years. She volunteered as an Albany Airport Ambassador, Colonie Central High School Concession, Albany County Fireman’s Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of the Stanford Heights Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Josephine had been a bowling coach and enjoyed playing golf.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Josephine’s family on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday September 23, 2019 at 9:00 at St. Clare’s Church, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
