GUILDERLAND – Joseph A. Church, 92, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Utica, NY and was the son of the late Stanley and Gertrude Church. Joe served in the US Army during WWII and was proud of his service to his country. He had a career of over forty years with Sears & Roebuck Co., retiring as a manager at the Colonie location. Joe was a man with an amazing work ethic and a remarkable loyalty, love and dedication to his family. Joe was  steadfast to his faith to the very end of his life.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Joe was a longtime member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mary Therese Church. Joe is the devoted father of Kathleen (Jason) Wertheim, Stephen (Candice) Church, Michael Church and James Church. He is the cherished Pa Joe to Sarah (Jeffrey) Gahan, Ethan Wertheim, Brandon Church,  Stevie (Erik) Fellows, Landon, Nico, Nichole and Michael Church. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe’s family on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 at Christ the King Church. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
