John "Jack" J. Maxstadt, Jr.

January 25, 1942 — June 23, 2022

COLONIE – John “Jack” Maxstadt Jr., of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the Inn of Community Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Albany and was the son of the late John J.  and Helen Maxstadt Sr. Jack was a graduate of CBA and Siena College with honors. Jack had a very rewarding career at New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets where he retired as the Director of the Food Laboratory. Jack was an avid golfer and love to play with the Saturday loop at Colonie Golf Course.

He is the beloved husband of fifty-eight years to Janice Maxstadt. Jack is the devoted father of Kevin (Sophie) Maxstadt, Kathryn (Ernest) McCallum and the late Kristin and Kyle Maxstadt. He is the brother of Richard (Joyce) Maxstadt. Jack cherished his grandchildren Ernest, Angela and Mary Kathryn McCallum and Ryan Maxstadt. He is the brother-in-law of Marjorie and Paul Tarbay, Kenneth Hammann and Karen Belleville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jack’s family on Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
