COLONIE - John “Jack” A. Garavelli, Sr., 72, of Colonie, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Alfred Garavelli and Catherine Gannon.
Jack served in the US Marine Corp and was a proud member of the Kilo 3/7 Platoon that served in Vietnam. Over time, this band of brothers and their families have reunited on many occasions to celebrate their lifelong relationships and loyalty to one another.
Jack was a driver with Teamsters Local 294 in Albany for many years. He was a member of the Joseph E. Zaloga American Legion Post. Jack was an avid fisherman and loved to share his passion with his family. He enjoyed boxing, cooking, gardening and camping. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile that brightened every room he entered. If you knew him, you loved him. We will miss his smile, laughter and jokes.
He is the devoted father of John A. (Amy) Garavelli Jr. and Andrea Garavelli (Sean Dougherty). Jack is the dear Poppi of Jack III, Aiden, Madelyn and Charlie. He is the brother of Linda Lostritto, Fred (Janice) Garavelli and sister-in-law of Susan Garavelli. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Garavelli and his brother-in-law Dickie Lostritto.
