ALTAMONT - John Edward Huber, 53, of Altamont, NY, passed away suddenly Wednesday, December 26, while vacationing with his family in Walt Disney World in Florida.

Born in Hudson, Columbia County, John graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1983 and owned Olympic Flooring Inc. in Colonie.

When John was a sophomore, he met Sandra Ann Aidala. He asked her to the junior prom, then the senior prom, and their love story began. John and Sandra married on September 2, 1989, and in 1993, they built their family home in Altamont.

John's family was his priority, his pride and joy. He always told Sandra that everything he does is for her and the kids. They were the most important people in his life.John loved their family vacations in Disney World, Myrtle Beach, and Los Angeles, and cruises in the Caribbean and to Nova Scotia. In 2009, his entire family took a memorable trip to Italy with his mother and siblings.John enjoyed participating in all of his children's activities and managed his son Ryan's Pine Bush Little League team for many years. John loved playing golf and was an avid fan of the Yankees and Steelers. In 2016, Sandra and their four daughters surprised him with a weekend getaway with Ryan to attend their first Steelers game in Pittsburgh.

John currently served on the Village of Altamont Zoning Board of Appeals, was a past member of the Colonie (Village) Fire Company and the Shaker Road-Loudonville Fire Department. He was currently a parishioner of St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Guilderland.

John was predeceased by his father, James F. Huber. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Sandra, include their five children, Kayleigh Barbara, Ashleigh Sandra, Kimberleigh Ann, Nataleigh Marie and Ryan John Huber, all of Altamont; his mother, Dora DiMauro Huber of Colonie; siblings Maria (Joseph) Crawley of Poestenkill, Michael (Caryn) Huber of Colonie, and Patricia (Tyson) Lamb of Arkansas; his father-in-law, John (late Barbara) Aidala of Loudonville; his two dear godchildren, Julia Catherine Huber of Delmar and Christopher Mark Wertman of Altamont. His in-laws include Jacqueline (Mark) Wertman, John Anthony (late Chrissy) Aidala, Sharon (Joe) Cuoccio, Jeffrey (Gwynne) Aidala, Sheryl (Jeff) Malo, Gregory Aidala and Stephen Aidala (Mandi Loss); his dear Uncle Claudio (Carol) DiMauro; several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Calling hours will be held 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Guilderland.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 3 at St. Madeleine Sophie Church.  Interment will follow in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
