Joan Coons Diehm

Joan Coons-Diehm entered into Heaven unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 in Manheim, PA. Born October 16th, 1969, she was the daughter of William Coons Sr and the late Joan (Emerich) Coons. Joan was a 1987 graduate of Guilderland Central High School.  Joan is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 31 years, James Diehm, and by her loving daughters, Nancy (Allen) Connell, and Emma Diehm and the sparkle in her eye, her grandson, Nolan Connell.

Joan is also survived by her father, William (the late Joan) Coons Sr., as well as her siblings, William (Michele) Coons Jr., Rick (Christine) Coons, Nancy (John) Baker, Steven (Jackie) Coons, Connie Coons-Vassar, and Valerie (the late Michael) Hynes.  Joan is also survived by her husband's father, Glen (Sandy) Diehm Sr., and Jim's siblings, Glen (Beth) Diehm Jr., Beth (Jim) Fenton, Lynn (John) Gurliacci and Mark Diehm, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and cherished friends.

Joan and Jim were married and started a family before leaving New York to settle in Manheim, PA. After the birth of their second child, Joan left her career to become a stay-at-home mother, and provide child care to children of friends and family. Joan was immediately loved by the children in her care as she was with all whom she met. Joan spent her life making people happy and helping others whenever she could. One of Joan's proudest adventures was her mobile funnel cake business, where she met so many people. Joan had a strong faith and love for God and her unconditional and unwavering love emanated from the moment she met someone. Joan had an enthusiasm for life and giving.  In her final act of kindness, Joan chose to donate her organs to help those in need as she was a strong advocate for organ donation. In honor of Joan, please spread kindness and help others whenever you can.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 9:30 to 11:30 am at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie, NY.  We encourage the sharing of stories and pictures of Joan as we celebrate the life of an amazing woman.
