Jasmine Anjanette Edwards, 23, departed this life on October 26, 2018. Born in Mount Pleasant NY, she was the beloved daughter of Andrew and Rochelle Edwards. Jasmine was predeceased by her brothers Andrew Edwards Jr. and Isiah Edwards.
Powerful, ambitious, and royal, Jasmine embodied all of the characteristics that her favorite color purple symbolizes. With a diagnosis of kidney disease, she had a life expectancy of 5 years. Jasmine beat the odds with her fierce independence and ingenuity. She was educated in the Albany School System. She loved cheerleading and was very proud to be a certified nursing assistant. Despite her diagnosis, she had dreams of being a neo-natal intensive care nurse. She did life the “Jasmine way” with legal blunts and stunning bundles. Jasmine loved fashion, had an enviable wig collection and you couldn’t miss her signature couture nail designs. Jasmine was loving called the She-Ro of her family. Through countless hospitalizations, the staff at Albany Medical Center Hospital learned not to be fooled by her small stature that Jasmine had a fierce independent heart! She escaped from ICU and would leave and come back at HER will. Jasmine will be greatly missed by her beloved Puppy Biscuit. Jasmine lavished Biscuit with a purple stroller, a stylish wardrobe, and shoe collection. Through it all her family, Biscuit, and her medical team were there to support Jasmine on her journey. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dialysis Clinic Inc. and Elisabeth Simon, her nephrologist for unending service to Jasmine and her family.
Jasmine leaves to cherish her memory her parents Andrew and Rochelle Edwards, sisters Janay (2 De-Part as Jasmine referred to her) Edwards, Antaquice Edwards, Tiana Edwards, and Taquoia Neal and honorary brother Najee Collins-Coleman, maternal grandparents Edward Malcom Sr., Peggy Malcom-Cobbs; paternal grandparents Simon Shackelford and Bessie Wilson, nephews Andrew Edwards (John-John), and Cekiii Edwards and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 12 noon at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jasmine’s family Friday from 11:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Albany Rural Cemetery.
