COLONIE – Janice C. Wall passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at her bedside at home. Janice was 87 and lived a beautiful life full of family, friends, good times and laughter. Janice leaves behind a legacy of kindness, goodness, love, optimism and joy for her family, friends, church and community. If you were lucky enough to know Janice you knew a woman with a contagious smile, enormous heart and loving character.
Janice was a lifelong resident of Albany and Colonie. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mabel Wright. Janice was predeceased by her husband Peter Wall, Sr. in 1999, infant son, David in 1959, her brother, Alfred Wright (and his late wife Margie), her brother, Robert Wright (Maureen) as well as many beloved brother and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include her love and best friend of 8 years Bill Fahy of Colonie, her brother, Richard Wright (Mary Lou) of Indian Lake, her sister Shirley O’Connor (late Joel O’Connor) of Colonie and Wall side sister-in-law and friend, Doraine Riley (late Richard) of Old Saybrook, Ct.
Janice was the loving and devoted mother of Peter Wall (Lilly), Steven Wall (Julie), Lynne Cuva (Roger) and James Wall (Emily) all of Colonie. Janice also loved her grandchildren with all her heart Trisha Lather (Jeff Dominy), Bibi Desir, Kira, Kali, Peter and Paris Wall, Ryan Cuva, Spencer and Brynna Wall and Ethan Lucente. Great grandmother to Alex Layton, Abby and Ben Breden. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and her close and devoted friends at the Colonie Seniors Center.
Janice was an incredible and sweet person. She was also mother like to the neighborhood kids who grew up with her children near School 27 and St. Margaret Mary’s Church. Janice also worked for the Albany Police Department as a Crossing Guard at School 27 in her younger years. All the kids and teachers loved Janice. Lots of neighborhood kids remember her holding the bus for them, helping with homework and occasionally treating them to an ice cream at Stewart’s.
Janice had a wonderful life full of love and joy and she was cherished and deeply loved by her family and all that knew her, and she will be eternally missed. Memories of her will fill her family’s heart with love forever and ever.
Calling hours for relatives and friends will be at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie, Saturday September, 14, 2024 from 12pm to 3pm with a prayer service at 2pm. Interment will be forthcoming in a private ceremony. The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Albany for their compassionate care and support.
