AMSTERDAM NY James “Jim” J. Raucci Sr, 91, died on Saturday, October 8,
2022 after a brief stay in the hospital.
Born in 1931 he lived his entire life in Amsterdam, NY. He graduated from Amsterdam High
School in 1948. He served in the United State Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He
married in October 1954. He worked for the several Federal government agencies in various
positions for more than 35 years before his retirement.
He was the son of Vincenzo (James) and Maria (Brignoli) Raucci of Amsterdam.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Marshall Raucci Sr and sister-in-
law Grace (Mele) Raucci, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Maureen Pryzbylo, and
Patricia and Enrico “Zip” Zepperi and very dear friends, Mary and Edward Ilnicki.
Survivors include his wife of almost 68 years, Gloria (Pryzbylo), his sons James (Deborah) Raucci
of Colonie, NY and John (Valerie) Raucci of Englewood, FL and his grandson, Christopher Raucci
of Colonie, NY.
He’s also survived by several nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
The immediate family would like to thank David Zepperi Sr and David Zepperi Jr and Rebecca
Chrisman for their support over the years.
He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He enjoyed attending gatherings
of veterans from the Southside of Amsterdam. As a younger man he played softball in the
City’s recreation league and enjoyed the southside bocce league later in life.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Florida during the winter/early spring
months.
A memorial service may be held at a later date.
