GUILDERLAND – John A. Baugh, III, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 11, 2019. He was born in Saratoga Springs on January 21, 1944, and grew up in Middle Grove, NY.
Jack was a 1963 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. He earned his AAS in Forestry in 1965 from Paul Smith’s College, and his BS in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana, Missoula in 1969. Jack began his NYS career with the Department of Environmental Conservation and the Department of Lottery. In 1979 he joined the Department of Correctional Services, retiring in 2005 as a Chief Budget Analyst.
His many interests included camping, hiking, climbing the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, hunting, fishing, golf, Bridge, travel, cooking, bird-watching, researching family genealogy, and protecting the environment. Jack loved spending time with family and friends. In his retirement years, he volunteered with Community Caregivers.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia (Pouliot) Baugh; daughter, Jessica (Joe) Anderson of West Charlton, precious newborn granddaughter, Jacqueline Jae; step-granddaughter, Emma; mother, Annie Vic (Johnson) Baugh of Saratoga Springs; sister, Vicki (Jim) Bundy of Fulton, Texas; brother David Baugh of Schenectady; close longtime friends Fred Altman and Tom and Mary Morrison; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his father, John A. Baugh Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jack’s family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie.
The family thanks the nurses, doctors, and staff at Albany Medical Center for excellent care, respect, and kindness; Community Hospice for their efficient and effective assistance enabling Jack to remain home, and our health care aides, Marshalee and Lystra, for their expert and loving care of Jack and Pat.
