Delmar – Iris N. Covey, 95, passed away peacefully after a long and joy filled life. She was born in Cohoes, the daughter of the late David and Harriet Bliss and sister of the late Dorothy Bailey. Iris was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert N. Covey in 2011, and her late daughter-in-law Zoe Covey in 2015.
As a young lady, Iris had worked as a messenger at Albany Medical Center and as a secretary for New York State. She was a longtime resident of Selkirk. Iris devoted her life to her cherished family. She was a kind and caring woman that never missed a birthday, anniversary or graduation. Iris will be remembered for her welcoming and compassionate heart with everyone she met.
Iris is the beloved mother of Linda (James) Benn, Bruce (Deborah) Covey, Barbara (Stephen) Fabbie and Mark Covey. She is the cherished grandmother of Stephen (Angela) Wilson, Kellie (Michael) Maloney, Benjamin Covey, Paul (Kari) Benn, Emily (Gary) Covey, Daniel (Elisia) Covey, and Lori (Jon) McKechnie. She is the great grandmother of Andrew and Colin Wilson.
The family would like to thank and recognize the wonderful staff of St. Peter’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their loving and comforting care.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. A prayer service will be offered at 7:00 pm. Interment will be Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Iris to St. Peter’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 301 Hackett Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
